Audio Recorder & Sampler Slicer · Effective 23 September 2026
Audio Recorder & Sampler Slicer processes audio on your device. The extension does not send your recordings to the publisher, run analytics, include advertising or sell your data.
Information handled
When you press REC, the extension captures audio from the selected browser tab. It does not request microphone, camera or screen-video access. Tab audio can contain music, speech or other content playing in that tab. The pad recorder captures the sound you play using the extension’s pads.
To provide editing and playback, the extension stores audio and associated metadata locally: recording identifiers and timestamps, duration, audio format, the source tab’s numeric identifier, silence-trim boundaries and tempo estimates. It also stores slice boundaries, pitch/stretch/reverse settings and playback preferences. It does not store a browsing history or source-page URLs or titles.
Use and sharing
Audio and metadata are used only to record, display waveforms, detect tempo, edit and play samples, restore your workspace and export WAV/ZIP files. Processing, including Rubber Band time stretching, runs locally. The extension contains no remote executable code and makes no requests to a publisher backend, advertising service or analytics provider.
There is no account registration, server upload, sale of data or sharing with third parties by the extension. When you export audio, Chrome saves the file to the destination you choose. A folder synchronized by another application may upload that file under that application’s settings; Audio Recorder & Sampler Slicer does not control such services.
Storage, retention and control
Saved audio is kept in IndexedDB in your Chrome profile. Editing preferences use local browser storage. The latest saved tab recording remains until you replace it with a successfully saved new recording or choose RESET ALL. Failed attempts to save a replacement retain the previous saved recording. Older, inaccessible tab recordings from previous builds are removed when their database is upgraded; the selected recording is retained.
The latest pad take remains until you start a new pad recording, use the pad recorder’s trash button or choose RESET ALL. Pad recording begins replacing that take when the new recording starts. Closing the popup stops the pad recording; completed stored audio blocks can be restored. Tab recording can continue with the popup closed until you stop it or its source ends.
RESET ALL stops playback and removes saved tab audio and the pad take, including old tab-audio rows. It resets recording-specific editing settings. The selected one-shot/hold preference may remain. Removing the extension removes its local browser data. Previously exported files are independent copies: delete them using your file manager if desired.
Audio is stored using Chrome’s local storage facilities. The extension does not add its own encryption layer; anyone with access to your browser profile or exported files may be able to access them. No network transmission of recordings is performed.
Permissions
- tabCapture: records tab audio when you request it with REC.
- offscreen: maintains recording and saving when the popup is closed.
- downloads: exports WAV/ZIP files and asks where to save them.
- activeTab + scripting: temporarily access the source page after you open the extension to pause its playing audio/video when you press STOP recording. This does not read or collect page text, URLs or browsing history. Some players cannot be paused; recording is still saved.
Limited Use
Audio Recorder & Sampler Slicer’s use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the disclosed audio-sampling features, never for advertising, profiling or unrelated purposes.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated if the extension’s data practices change. The publisher can be contacted through the contact information on Audio Recorder & Sampler Slicer’s Chrome Web Store listing. If you contact support, the publisher receives only what you choose to send; the extension does not attach or upload audio automatically.
